A Biodynamic Wine Shop

Philippe Essomé, known as Fifi, who owns the Ten Bells wine bar on the Lower East Side, has opened a new wine shop, Passage de la Fleur, in Brooklyn’s Prospect Heights neighborhood. His shop, like his bar, stocks organic and biodynamic wines in a neighborhood with a lot of newcomers who he thinks will like what he is selling. “I had to be able to afford the rent,” he said, “and here I noticed there were new residents who were interested in clean, organic food.” The window display, with bottles from Cheverny and Arbois, hints at the stock inside. He can guide shoppers through his selection of about 200 labels, many of them French, some of which he imports directly. A small selection of local spirits rounds out the inventory:
